Must Know About This

  • Kicking a hard object while unprepared can cause an acute fracture (ex. toes).
  • Bruising is usually associated with this type of fracture.
  • Depending upon whether or not the affected bone is displaced or non-displaced, a supportive or rigid shoe might be needed during the healing process.

Good to Know About This

  • Acute fractures are a result from a sudden injury to the foot.
  • Can occur when a heavy object is dropped on the foot (ex. metatarsals.)
  • Associated with falls from ladder (ex. calcaneus).
